I was incredibly humbled to receive an email towards the end of October from Eolan Healy at the British Society for Immunology (BSI) saying that I had been selected as the winner of their Teaching Excellence Award 2020. What makes the award even more meaningful to me is that some former students put my name forward in the first place, so huge thanks to Ross, Sean, Sev and Luke for your nominations.
As a card-carrying immunologist, the BSI is my “parent” society, and I’ve been a member since I was a postdoc back in Cardiff. I’ve worked as a local representative for the Society at Swansea University to help promote their work, raising the profile of immunology in the UK and beyond.
The Teaching Excellence Award has been running for four years now, and I’m privileged to join a group of inspiring immunology educators! You can read my interview with Eolan for Immunology News here.
